Wait… QR codes can do that?

Did you know that you can do more with QR codes than just direct users to a website, start an email or send a payment? The next time you need a brochure, sign or other piece of marketing material designed, keep these lesser-known uses in mind!

Dial a phone number

Save time (and potential misdials!) by creating a QR code that dials a phone number for the person who scanned it.

Open a map

Need to direct someone to a specific location? A QR code linking to a location’s latitude and longitude will open a user’s map app to exactly where you want.

Connect to Wi-Fi

Event planners, remember this one! Attendees won’t need to rely on signage or event staff to get connected to a Wi-Fi network—simply set up a QR code that includes the network name and password to automatically sign them in when they scan it.

Add a calendar event

Rather than requiring meeting or event attendees to manually add the details to their work calendar, set up a QR code that does all the work for them when scanned.

Create a new contact

Make it easy for others to save your contact information—scanning a QR code that contains your name, phone number, email address and job title will fill in all the fields in the new contact form on their phone.

Why QR codes are good for business

Beyond their versatility, QR codes offer increased marketing value. Instead of asking someone to type in a long web address or search for your contact details later, you give them a quick way to get what they need right away. When people don't have to jump through hoops to reach you, they are much more likely to follow up. QR codes can also show you how many people scanned them, which helps you see what's working and what isn’t across your marketing materials.

The most useful QR codes are the ones that save someone a step. It can be cumbersome to stop and type out a phone number, copy down an address or hunt for the Wi-Fi password. A well-placed QR code handles that in a few seconds, and that small bit of convenience is often what turns a quick glance into a real conversion.

QR codes can do so much more than just direct users to a simple link. Want to see what they can do for your next project? Reach out to AOE today.
